G. Patrick Maxwell, MD, the holder of 10 US patents dealing with
medical devices, is one of the premier plastic surgeons in the world and hailed as a visionary in the field. He
was recently honored with the 2005 Presidential Award from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for "excellence
as an educator and innovator bringing art and science to a new level for the specialty."
Dr. Maxwell is a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, and completed his
internship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He is the founder of the Institute for Aesthetic and Reconstructive
Surgery in Nashville, which the New York Times called, "the first and foremost facility of its kind in the United States."
Dr. Maxwell has designed breast implants and served as medical advisor for Inamed Corp., and is the founder and chairman of
the Allergan Academy™, the international public professional arm of Allergan, Inc., conveying the proper use of breast implants
and cosmetic procedures to physicians and the public. In the last two years he has expanded the Academy to include locations
in seven countries.
Dr. Maxwell has published more than 100 scientific articles, and lectured and performed live surgical
demonstrations in over 20 countries. He is a member of all major surgical societies (the American College of Surgeons,
American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic
Surgery, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons) and an honorary member of the Canadian, Japanese, and South
African Societies of Plastic Surgery. A recipient of the Robert H. Ivy Society Award, the James Barrett Brown Award,
and a three-time recipient of the Walter Scott Brown Award for scientific and clinical excellence, presentations,
and publications.
Dr. Maxwell has also been named to the "Best Doctors in America," "Best Doctor," "Best Plastic Surgeons,"
and "Best Plastic Surgeons in America" lists numerous times. |
